Brodie
With over 10 years of experience, Brodie is passionate about singing and passing on her knowledge of vocal technique to students both young and mature-age. She is currently a second-year Bachelor of Arts Drama/Musical Theatre at Monash University, Clayton. Brodie was taught by Creative Souls Studio owner, Jenn Kerr, for six years. For the past two years Brodie has been teaching at our studio. She is dedicated to her students in finding their true voice rather than mimicking artists, and finding songs that suit the students’ voices but those which they enjoy singing.” Brodie focuses mainly on contemporary and modern genres but has an understanding gained from her early years of classical training which enables her to specialise in vocal technique and vocal health. She understands the mechanisms of the voice and is adamant that singing should not hurt. Brodie can help you eliminate vocal strain and maximise your performance ability and style. Brodie was awarded a Performing Arts Scholarship in Voice from Beaconhills College, Pakenham, which took her through to VCE where she completed Music Performance Voice (Contemporary), Music Investigation (Emotion in Musical Theatre), Theatre Studies and Drama. She received the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Performing Arts. She has attained Year 8 in Guild Hall singing exams.
Matilda
Matilda (Tilly) Weaver has studied with Jennifer Kerr, owner of Creative Souls, for the past 10 years. At 12 years of age Tilly won Casey’s Star Search for a Cause and as the winner performed at the Berwick Show. She has been successful in many Victorian eisteddfods. Tilly has been involved in the State School Spectacular for three consecutive years both as a dancer and principal vocalist. She is extremely versatile in her vocal ability and is able to bring musical theatre, contemporary, acting and movement into her lessons having studied at Ministry of Dance and the Melbourne Theatre Company. Tilly is a long-term Pakenham resident and has been involved locally with the Cardinia Performing Arts Company and won a Lyrebird Award for her role as ‘Brat’ in “Whistle Down the Wind.” Tilly also has a love of piano and enjoys teaching young beginners.
Lucienne
Lucienne is currently studying her Bachelor of Music at Monash University specialising in Performance (Popular Voice). Lucienne is able to move across a range of singing styles including popular, jazz, musical theatre and rock. In addition to her passion and discipline in voice, she also plays guitar. Lucienne undertook her secondary schooling at Beaconhills College and received a Performing Arts Scholarship in Voice, was awarded the 2018 Margaret Wagstaff Performing Arts Award and completed VCE Music Performance (Contemporary Voice) and VCE Theatre Studies. She enjoys performing as a soloist as well as with bands and has experience across many genres. Lucienne endeavours to nurture the passion of her students in a safe and fun environment where they will be encouraged to explore their individual voices whilst ensuring vocal health and versatility. She has a very gentle nature and will support students in achieving their goals. Lucienne is available to teach both junior and senior students.
Sean
Sean is a gifted musician who has played the guitar since the age of seven. He has studied classical, electric and acoustic guitar and has been involved in many eisteddfods, masterclasses, ensembles /bands and local performances.Sean was awarded a Performing Arts Scholarship in guitar to Berwick Grammar School where he was heavily involved in the music program, being Music Captain from years 7-11. In 2016 Sean completed his Music Performance VCE in classic guitar and earned the VCE Music Prize at Berwick Grammar School for that year. He was also awarded with a Service to Music Award from his school. Sean enjoys playing the alto saxophone as well having ultimately achieved AMEB Grade 8 level in 2017. He is currently in his second year at Monash University studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Science. Sean is very passionate about music and has dedicated a large amount of time to expanding upon his musicianship and technique. His instruction is friendly and encouraging with an emphasis on the importance of proper playing techniques and good practice habits.
Lucy
Lucy has a wealth of music experience including performing and teaching. Having started piano when she was 3, she has entered many competitions and eisteddfods during her time as a piano student. She has completed her Grade 8 in AMEB Piano comprehensive. During her school years, she was involved in extra-curriculum activities which included choir, symphonics and Piano performances. She has been teaching piano ever since completing high school, teaching both the young and the mature, and everything in between! Whatever your goal is, whether it is to have fun or prepare for an exam, she can cater to your needs. Students always love coming to piano lessons- learn something new every lesson while having fun!
Teaghan
We would like to welcome Teaghan Brown as our new junior piano teacher.
Teaghan has been playing the piano for nine years and continues to study to increase her own abilities. She is currently completing AMEB Grade 6 piano. Teaghan will commence her Bachelor of Arts at Monash University after completing her VCE which included Music Performance and Music Style and Composition where she composed and analysed music and achieved high marks in both.
Teaghan has played keyboard for her school senior show band and concert band and also sang in the choir and Beacon Voices. She has also participated in many musical productions both within the school environment and outside where she was in either the main cast or ensemble. She has studied musical theatre/speech and drama classes and completed Trinity Guildhall Level 5 in both and has taken part in many eisteddfods, competitions and exams in each discipline.
Teaghan is looking forward to working with students and hopes to be able to guide them in their musical journey whether that is just for fun or working towards the Australian Music Education Board examinations.
Kobe
We would like to introduce Kobe Lewin as one of our new drum teachers.
Kobe was the recipient of a Performing Arts (Music) Scholarship during secondary school and has since completed his Bachelor of Music and Performance through JMC Academy. He began playing the drums at the age of eight when his parents bought him his first drum kit after hearing him playing rhythms with his hands and generally banging on almost every surface of the house.
Kobe’s music in general is focused on creating emotion within the listener whether that is through his own compositions or simply dancing along to a track. His goal is to teach enthusiastic musicians and give them the opportunity to learn the drums in an engaging but fun way. Kobe believes students who enjoy coming to lessons are more likely to want to practice and continue with their instrument.
